Read MoreThe watercolour “Instant” was born in 2013 and it was initially intended to be my proposal for participating in the Skywards Future Artists contest. The artwork presents an impossible vision: shadows reflected on the opposite side of where they’re expected, and a hand ambiguously interacting with a structure that appears to be either falling or rising. This whimsical composition captures the essence of a dream, maybe confusing yet entirely plausible to the dreamer.
The Instant that I created this watercolour, I was living in a cramped university residence in Argentina, which may have influenced the painting’s themes of escape and surrealism. Interestingly, during a 2017 visit to the Musée Magritte in Brussels, I discovered a 1938 poster by René Magritte that bore a curious resemblance to “Instant”. Read the full story here.
